Whiterails Farm has been run by the Richardson family for over fifty years since it was rented from the Evans Lombe estate. David Richardson still lives in the farmhouse next to the yard and is in the habit of walking round the stables last thing at night to make sure all is well.

The Richardsons at Whiterails

Rob Richardson, son of David, oversees the livery. He still rides occasionally but his main hobby is driving. He has a selection of carriages and he and his mare Milly, together with an antique Phaeton Chaise, may be hired for special occasions.

The Richardsons are enthusiasts for countryside conservation. They were, in fact, among the first members of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) set up in 1991 to promote the link between conserving the countryside and the production of safe healthy food.

Sally Hornsey

Sally has had wide experience in virtually all things equestrian. An accomplished rider in all disciplines, from dressage, through show jumping, to western riding, she also teaches, designs show jumping courses, and organises events. She has eight horses of her own and an interest in a ranch in Wyoming USA!

Sally has competed with her horses in medium dressage, show jumping and foxhunter classes and has BHS certificates 1,2 and 3 in Care and Riding, PTT, NVQ2 and a BEF Childcare certificate. She also has a Red Cross First Aid at Work certificate and has qualified to drive horses under the recent Transport of Horses regulations.

Lauren Baldrey

Lauren has her NVQ Level 2 and is Studying for her NVQ level 3. She has been here at Whiterails for more than 3 years. She is very experienced and courteous and is a solid rider.
