Countryside conservation and wildlife protection is taken seriously at Whiterails Livery.

We are blessed with beautiful Norfolk countryside around us, offering up a fascinating variety of wildlife, fauna and flora. It is a pleasure to have such an abundance of natural beauty on our doorstep, and we ensure we do our utmost to maintain and protect that resource.

A few years ago the RSPB conducted an extensive survey around Whiterails' rides. They identified 53 wild bird species, some of which are on the endangered list.

The 27 miles of off-road rides around Whiterails and Great Melton Rides will take you through quiet farmland, woodland, abundant wildlife and conservation areas.

Some of the wildlife you may be fortunate to see are pheasants, partridges, and maybe the occasional fox or weasel. You may also encounter our now resident Red Kites soaring high in the sky or, closer to ground, Roe Deer and other wildlife.

We are sure you will find the rides around Whiterails interesting and stimulating. We invite you to come and enjoy them, and of course, to leave them as you found them!

Whiterails Farm has been run by the Richardson family for over fifty years as tenants of the Evans Lombe estate. Rob Richardson, Farm Manager and proprietor, oversees the livery. He rides occasionally but his main hobby is driving. He has a selection of carriages and he and his gelding, Vincent, can often be seen around the lanes using one of the vehicles.

The Richardsons are countryside conservation enthusiasts. They were among the first members of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) set up in 1991 to promote the link between conserving the countryside and the production of safe wholesome healthy food.
